ECONOMICAL INSURANCE PARKING GARAGE

AEC Developments provided Construction Management for a new six-storey parking garage for Economical Insurance. Designed by WalterFedy, the garage, located at Economical’s Riverbend Drive location in Kitchener, will provide 390 parking spaces and 30 bike spaces for staff.

The design follows the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)—Access Control, Surveillance, Territorial Reinforcement, and Maintenance. The principles are factored into the design to be visible in many aspects of the site, including landscape, lighting, pedestrian connectivity, delineation of private and public spaces, as well as the design of mixed-use development and amenities.

As the area borders land covered regulated under the Grand River Conservation Authority, we worked with the GRCA to ensure we solved any slope, erosion, and drainage issues that may arise through construction and in the coming years.
